Clean Your Desk
It’s a proven fact that clutter in your space creates clutter in your mind.
It’s time to create a space that feeds your creativity!
I don’t know about you, but I cannot stand to walk into my house and it be dirty. Instead of walking in and feeling relaxed, it instantly makes me feel like I have even more to do on my already full to do list. If my to do list at home is just as full as my to do list at work, my brain will not shut off. If my brain doesn’t instantly begin slowing down when I get home it takes me longer to unwind from my day. I’m also less likely to have a good night’s sleep because my body has less time in rest mode.
Is this sounding familiar?
To clear your mind, you must first clear your space. Start with your desk. Clear off everything that you do not need to physically touch this week. File everything away and create an organizing system for the things that you will need to do this week. It doesn’t have to be an expensive or elaborate filing system. Actually, the smaller the filing system, the less likely it is to be overrun by junk or outdated files. Start with something like this:
Both organizing systems are relatively small and have everything you’re likely to need THIS WEEK. Remember that we’re removing everything that you do not need right now. Everything else should be filed away somewhere else. If you don’t have a filing cabinet in your office, it’s time to invest in one. It’s important to have the things that you are not using on a regular basis tucked away neatly out of sight.
Now you’ll have a fresh workspace to create some fresh new ideas, products, or programs that will GROW the business. Whether you’re a business owner, department lead or janitor your productivity effects the overall profitability of the company.
