Healthy You, Healthy Business
My Journey to Restful Sleep
Have you ever tossed and turned all night, desperately seeking restful sleep, only to wake up feeling more exhausted than when you went to bed? Yeah, me too!! For years, I struggled with insomnia, spending countless restless nights tossing and turning, waking up multiple times, and feeling utterly drained the next day.
My journey towards restful sleep began with countless attempts to establish a bedtime routine, cutting out caffeine after a certain hour, sleep aids, CBD and creating a calming environment in my bedroom. Despite my efforts, I found myself trapped in a cycle of sleepless nights, unable to quiet my racing mind and drift off into peaceful slumber. On any given day, my to do list is longer than my legs. I can’t remember the last time I crossed everything off the list in one day. Running a business, being a good partner, being a good friend and somehow managing time for my own self-care kept my mind racing, even when I had closed the laptop for the day.
Why Having the Facts Matters
Here’s what I recently learned… the CBD sleep gummies and oils I tried in the past where highly unregulated and contained pesticides and metals. Seriously, when is the last time you read the bottle of a pesticides and discovered that they help with sleep? Never.
Moreover, the person who directed me in my usage just told me to take them 30 minutes before bed, like a sleep aid. Little did I know, CBD doesn’t work that way. You need to take CBD consistently to help your endocannabinoid system (ECS) operate at maximum capacity on a daily basis, not take it randomly when you need to sleep.
What Works for Me
As a last-ditch effort, I tried Green Compass and their Nano Sleep Gummies with hemp flower extract. Intrigued with the hope of improved sleep and by the potential of CBD to address underlying factors such as anxiety and insomnia, I decided to give them a try. But what really won me over was the fact that the advocate helping me informed me of the right way to use CBD to enhance my body’s overall functioning. And guess what, when you use the product the way it was intended, you’re more likely to see results. SHOCKER!
The best part, there’s no pesticides or heavy metals. Yup, they’re organic. The company not only produces the product but owns the hemp farms… right here in the United States. They control the entire process, from seed, soil, recipe, to the packaging.
To my amazement, the Nano Sleep Gummies with hemp flower extract truly lived up to their reputation. I don’t have a problem falling asleep. My problem is staying asleep. They have regularly helped me stay asleep and minimize those frustrating middle-of-the-night two- and three-hour long wake-ups. Now, if I wake up, it’s brief and I’m able to go back to sleep much more quickly.
Integrating CBD into my health routine has worked wonders in calming my mind and easing any physical discomfort that may have been disrupting my sleep. Sleep aids, while did often work, had many harsh chemicals and left me feeling groggy in the morning. Now, I find myself waking up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, ready to tackle the day ahead with renewed energy and clarity.

Listen, I’m no expert on CBD. I will tell you that I did my research and found a product that I feel comfortable and confident using. If you’d like to learn more about it and how it works with your body’s own systems. Here are a few resources that helped me make an informed decision.
Why CBD – How it works with your body’s ECS system and receptors – this is the one to watch!
Don’t worry, you don’t need a PhD to understand it.
Why Organic – Again, it’s not super technical.
The Hemp Farm – Y’all it’s in North Carolina.
Ryan Crane’s TEDx Talk – Great overview from someone with a background in Neuroscience.
Why Am I Telling You All of This?
Mostly because I just love sharing goodness with you. However, we all know how much your sleep affects how you show up for the day ahead. You have a lot of things on your plate and a lot of people relying on you… your team, your customers, your community, and your family.
This is a great article from the Huffington Post that addresses how health impacts productivity and profitability. It’s written more from the perspective of an employee’s health but all of the principles and facts can apply to any human.
For me, my sleep is the number one determining factor in how my day begins. A good night’s sleep allows me to show up with my best self, immediately. I then, in turn, show up for my team, my customers, my community, and my family with my best self.
This is just the beginning of me starting to reclaim my health and my life. We’ve gone through absolute hell over the past few years as Jose battled Stage 4 Hodgkin Lymphoma. His diagnosis and treatment set us back in more ways that I have time to list. Thankfully, he’s in remission and we have a renewed purpose. We’ve shifted the way that we’re doing business, who will doing business with, our health, our priorities, and our commitment to living our absolute best lives. We’re not wasting one second of our second chance.
