Make Your Health a Priority
This may be the absolute most important tip I can share with you. It doesn’t matter what your personal, career or business goals are, without your health, you are less likely to actually achieve them or to reach your maximum potential.
That probably sounded a little harsh but honestly, the truth isn’t always pretty. Sometimes we need to take a long look in the mirror and really look at the person staring back at us. Do you see a happy, patient, loving person who approaches life from a position of service? Or do you see a tired, angry person with a million things you’d like to change? We all have things we’d like to change. This isn’t about being perfect. No one is perfect and striving to be perfect is a battle we will all lose every time. I simply want you to be honest about whether you’re in the best shape mentally and physically.
I’ll be honest with you, I’m not in the best shape of my life. I’m currently working to get back to a weight that I felt most comfortable at. This is not my lowest weight, it’s my healthiest weight. It’s the weight where I felt comfortable in my skin. I was more active. I was energized. I was happier (and I’m a pretty happy person by nature). I seemed to have an endless amount of energy. I still am still overall pretty healthy but I’m not at my optimum health.
This means something different to everyone. This isn’t about weight or size. This is about health. Whatever your optimum health is, that’s what you should strive for. Feed your body and your mind. Feed your soul. Your business will thank you.
Here are a few side effects of optimum health
- Increased patience – greater willingness to step into trainer mode
- Less anger
- Faster problem solving
- Increased creativity
- Healthier work atmosphere – creating a more ideal culture
- Increased communication with your team

I do want you to know that you’re not alone in this journey, or at least you don’t have to be. There are many resources for getting connected. There are free groups on social media that will help to educate and encourage you through your journey. I do free yoga workouts at home by watching YouTube videos. I have a fitbit and create challenges with friends who have fitbits. I don’t always win those challenges but they push me to do more, more than I’m likely to do on my own. It also helps me to stay connected to people that I enjoy communicating with. Let’s face it, life gets busy and we don’t maintain relationships as well as we should. I am definitely guilty of this one so I always look for opportunities to stay connected. These relationships are helping me to maintain both my physical health and my mental health because I have my support system.
I promise you that the moment you make your mental and physical health a priority, the health of your business will also change.
